Trade Restricted Individual (TRI)

An individual whose most recent citizenship or permanent residence status is from an embargoed country (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria)

Export Controlled Technology

  • Effective 20 Sep 16, with the implementation of etch decontrol, the scope of U.S. export controls for Lam technology was reduced to cover embargoed countries and foreign nationals from those countries
  • The term TRI has been redefined as an individual whose most recent citizenship or permanent residence status is from an embargoed country (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria)
    • For this limited population of TRIs, export controlled technology is defined as all technology for the design, production (manufacture), and use of Lam products

 


 

Reminder: Certain Lam hardware such as manometers, valves, pumps, and heat exchangers is still controlled and requires an export authorization to certain countries

WARNING: FAILURE TO CLASSIFY LAM TECHNOLOGY CORRECTLY COULD LEAD TO THE ILLEGAL EXPORT OF TECHNICAL DATA RESULTING IN FINES AND PENALTIES FROM THE U.S. GOVERNMENT.
